KraftMaid Cabinetry Adds Vanity Sink Base to Popular CoreGuard Sink Base Line

Ann Arbor, MI (February 4, 2014) – How do you improve upon a wildly popular product that debuted in 2012 to rave reviews? Extend the line to make it available in vanity cabinets. And that’s exactly what KraftMaid Cabinetry has done with its revolutionary CoreGuard® Sink Base product.

Introduced two years ago to address issues including plumbing leaks and minor spills that occasionally happen under a sink and cause big headaches, the CoreGuard Sink Base replaces all of the interior wood and wood-based materials typically associated with cabinet construction with an engineered polymer. The polymer is non-absorbent, making it easy to clean and maintain.

The CoreGuard Vanity Sink Base, available in 30-, 33- and 36-inch widths, incorporates all of the key features of the CoreGuard sink base cabinet, in a new option for designers and homeowners.

“This product was created with prevention in mind,” says Karen Brawn, director of marketing for KraftMaid Cabinetry. “Who hasn’t opened the cabinet doors under the sink to find a disaster waiting for them? Whether it’s leaking pipes and irreparably damaged wood or spilled cleaners or shampoo, the CoreGuard Sink Base and now, CoreGuard Vanity Sink Base, are designed to turn that disaster into just a minor inconvenience.”

The polymer floor in the sink base, which is tilted slightly forward to channel leaks and spills to the front of the cabinet, includes a rib design to help keep stored items dry. Long-lasting and requiring minimal maintenance, the CoreGuard Vanity Sink Base meets or exceeds all Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) standards. Best of all, while the sink base itself is made of engineered polymer, the cabinet’s face frame and door assembly are constructed of the same wood, in the homeowners’ desired style, as the rest of their KraftMaid® cabinetry, meaning there is no need to sacrifice form for function.

When initially introduced, the CoreGuard Sink Base was named a TOH Top 100 Product by This Old House magazine.
