KraftMaid® Adds to Google SketchUp™ 3-D Model Collection

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – KraftMaid® is adding to its collection of 3-D cabinet and room models available for Google SketchUp™ users, including the latest KraftMaid “hero” kitchen and additional cabinet door styles and colors.
“With more than 220,000 downloads and more than 2,500 3-D models, the overwhelming response to KraftMaid’s 3-D model offering lets us know we’re meeting the design community’s technology needs,” said Mark Johnson, FAIA, CKD, AIBD, director of architect relations and education at KraftMaid. “The popularity of these models is even more incentive to increase our offerings.”
The new KraftMaid kitchen configuration also features 3-D countertop models from DeNova™ countertops, making it easier for architects to select the right color and style of countertops for their projects.
Google SketchUp was developed to provide quick 3-D forms for conceptual stages of design, including a repository of 3-D objects that accelerate the design process, called the Google 3D Warehouse. SketchUp models can be converted into all major CAD products without having to draw designs twice.
The KraftMaid 3-D models are modeled as Google Dynamic Components, allowing designers to show their clients a virtual kitchen, bath, home office or laundry room design with animated cabinet doors and drawers. The cabinets and countertops can be sized and resized to any of the brands’ available dimensions. Plus, users can access specification information embedded within each model and link back to each brand’s website for more information.
