KraftMaid Cabinetry Helps Elle Decor Transform Miami Penthouse Into a Design Destination

ANN ARBOR, Mich. — For the second year, Elle Decor has partnered with top designers to showcase style and design in its finest form. Following a successful 2010 showhouse in San Francisco, Elle Decor has added some spice and cultural flair to this year’s home, reflective of its Miami locale.
KraftMaid Cabinetry is excited to again provide cabinetry to the 2011 Elle Decor showhouse, located in Miami’s booming Biscayne Corridor. The showhouse, which began as an unfinished open space, has been transformed into an elegant and modern penthouse on the 43rd floor of the Paramount Bay building. The unit is more than 8,500 square feet of indoor and outdoor space.

The unit will be revealed to design communities on Dec. 1 and open to the public Dec. 2–18, which coincides with Design Miami and Art Basel Miami Beach events. It will also be featured in the December 2011 and April 2012 issues of Elle Decor, and online at ElleDecor.com.
Chic Cabinetry Completes The Look
The showhouse designers chose KraftMaid cabinetry styles that bring a feeling of warmth and sophistication to the kitchen, wet bar and lounge bathroom. The kitchen, centrally located within the home, features KraftMaid’s Huntington Maple door style in Dove White finish and blackened pewter hardware. The island is designed with Avery Maple cabinets in Slate finish, one of KraftMaid’s newest finishes, and is a focal point of the kitchen.
“The project offered the designers a unique challenge to make a sizeable penthouse feel like a home,” said Sarah Reep, director of designer relations at KraftMaid. “The warm cabinetry plays upon the other aspects of the home, tying the spaces together.”
KraftMaid Storage Solutions keep everything in its place and minimize countertop clutter to make the most of space and maintain a clean, chic design. The showhouse kitchen includes the following KraftMaid Storage Solutions: Cutlery Divider, Base Pots and Pan Organizer, Rollout Trays, Tray Divider, Wood Tiered Cutlery Divider, Sink Base Multi-Storage, Adjustable Drawer Dividers and Spice Drawer Insert.
In a city known for its nightlife, a wet bar is an essential home amenity. The Huntington Maple cabinets with Onyx finish and brushed bronze hardware make the bar a stunning place to entertain guests. The lounge bathroom also features the same cabinetry style as the wet bar and has KraftMaid’s Classic Mullion doors with Onyx glass inserts.
The cabinetry throughout the Elle Decor showhouse features Whisper Touch™ hinges, KraftMaid’s newest technology. This new soft-close technology silences slamming cabinet doors and is incorporated into the actual hinge, unlike other silencing products that require the installation of an accessory device at the jobsite. By eliminating the need for the extra device, the cabinet has a cleaner overall appearance when the door is open, removing the need for field installation and helps cut down on costs associated with an extra device and cabinetry repair. Whisper Touch will come standard on all KraftMaid Cabinetry starting in early 2012.
